Meet your swim teacher

Hi, I’m Johnny- founder of JP Swim Academy.

I created JP Swim Academy to provide high-quality swimming lessons where every swimmer receives genuine individual attention. By keeping classes to a maximum of four swimmers, I can spend more time giving each person individualised feedback, attention and support, rather than relying on general feedback for a larger group.

Smaller classes give me more opportunity to work on the specific areas each swimmer needs to improve, helping them develop their technique, confidence and overall swimming ability more effectively.

My aim is to make lessons structured and purposeful while still being enjoyable, helping swimmers become stronger, safer and more confident in the water.

Why I started JP swim academy

I wanted to create a swimming programme that combines small class sizes, individualised coaching, clear progression and meaningful rewards. Rather than swimmers simply attending lessons week after week, the JP Medal Pathway gives seven clear stages to work towards and a medal to celebrate each stage.

Competitive swimming experience

Alongside teaching, I continue to train and compete in Masters swimming at national level.

Competitive swimming gives me first-hand experience of developing technique, understanding how small changes can improve performance, and working towards clear progression goals. I bring that same attention to detail into my teaching- adapting feedback to the individual swimmer rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

Whether someone is learning the fundamentals or refining their stroke towards a competitive level, I’m passionate about helping swimmers improve at every stage. My own competitive experience allows me to coach both the basics and the finer technical details that matter at higher levels of performance.
