JP Medal Pathway

The JP Medal Pathway gives young swimmers a clear and rewarding progression from Stage 1 through to Stage 7. Each stage develops important swimming skills, confidence and technique, with a distinctive JP Swim Academy medal awarded when the stage is completed.

Rather than progress being recognised with a paper certificate, every completed stage is celebrated with a medal swimmers can keep and be proud of.

Medals, not certificates.

Progress through seven stages

Each stage builds on the skills developed before it, taking swimmers from water confidence and the fundamentals through to stronger technique, independence and advanced swimming skills.

Specific skills and progression requirements are assessed individually before each medal is awarded.

How medals are awarded

When a swimmer consistently demonstrates the skills required for their current stage, they move on and receive the matching JP Swim Academy medal.

Progress is individual — some swimmers may move through stages quickly, while others may need more time to build confidence or refine technique. The focus is on genuine improvement rather than rushing through stages.

Progress is assessed during normal lessons, so swimmers do not need to sit a separate test.

Every stage completed = one JP Swim Academy medal earned.
